Samantha Carr - 1st Assistant Director

My name is Samantha Carr and I am a student at CSUSM. I’ve been performing since I was three. I’ve done everything from dancing to singing to acting to writing to directing to crewing. Most recently I played the character of Millie Dillmount in the VCHS Musical Theater production of “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” As a sophomore I played the role of Wendy (and crazy pirate!) in the production of Peter Pan. Along with musicals, I also enjoy writing and directing my own plays and films. Two years ago I wrote and directed the full length original stage play, Auditioning Truths and Lies, which we’ve performed several times throughout Southern California. In 2007 I also wrote and directed the VC/Pauma school district’s first full-length original film, Mystery High, which was nominated for an iVIE award and became one of three finalists in its category at the 2008 Fallbrook Film Festival. In 2006, I wrote and directed Sins of the Father, which won the district’s first, and still only iVIE first place trophy as well as several VCTV awards including Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Storyteller of the Year. I have such a passion for theater and film and I hope to follow that as a career, never losing sight of the most important thing, happiness. I believe if you’re happy, then you’re a millionaire, because happiness is impossible to buy. And, of course, I want to thank my family for always helping me be the best that I can be and encouraging me to strive to be my best. I love you guys!
